これは1997年にリリースされたアルバム「Au nom de la lune」の冒頭の曲です。
曲が持つ広い世界観と、アングンの豊かな表現力で、10年以上前の曲なのに
聞くたびに深い感動を覚えます。
歌とはパワーと感情を伝えるものなんだ！とひしひしと感じます。
プロデューサーのエリック・ベンジはシンガーの個性を引き出す天才的な人ですね。
インドネシアではロックミュージシャンとして既に
スーパースターの地位を確立していたという彼女。
更にワールドワイドに活躍する場を求めてフランスへと渡り、
このアルバムで世界デビューを果たしました。
一時の成功に満足しないで、更に上を目指そうとする姿勢がすごいです。
このアルバムはイタリアでプラチナ、フランスでゴールドを獲得したとのことで、
フランスやイタリアでは今でも人気者みたいです。
アジア人のシンガーが西洋文化圏でこんな風に認められたことってほとんどない
のではないでしょうか。
深い海のような彼女の声は、アジア人としてのバックグラウンドを
持っているからこそ自然に出てくるものなんだと思います。
彼女のことを誇りに思っているインドネシアの人も多いんじゃないのかな。
私も同じアジア人としてとても誇りに思います。
ロック出身の彼女ですが、ベンジのアドバイスによってムーディーな
歌唱路線に変更し、アジアの神秘的な雰囲気を前面に押し出したのが、
ヨーロッパで成功した要因ではなかったかと思うんです。
しかし最近では当初の東洋っぽさがだんだんと薄れていっているのが残念です。
彼女には新しいサウンドを追求するのと同時に、伝統民謡的なものもずっと
歌っていってほしいですね。
（最近のセクシー路線はいかがなものかと思いますが・・・苦笑）
